What we do
We make up feather and down filled bedding and soft furnishings such as pillows, duvets, bolsters, neck pillows, cushions pads, floor cushions, sofa cushions, window seat cushions, bench cushions and much more. Everything is made by us in our own workshop in Edinburgh.
We specialise in small one-off orders and can make up our entire range to any size and density from your templates, covers and measurements. We offer a pillow and duvet re-covering service. We can boost up your flat feather sofa cushions with more filling or replace them with new ones. We can transform your existing feather and down filled items into something new.
As well as supplying the public, we make up our products for many Interior Designers and Upholsterers. Send us your covers and we’ll make up cushions to fit. Saddle bags, Turkish bolster covers, Romanian salt sacks, leather pouffes, we’ve stuffed them all!
What makes our products different
We are a small family business providing excellent service with high standards. We make up our soft furnishings and bedding to last for many years. All of our feather and down filled products are hand-filled to specific weights using only top quality materials. We can make up our entire range to any shape, size or density required in a choice of five natural fillings including feather, feather and down blends and pure down.
History of company
The company was established in 1969 by my father, David Monro under the name of “Snuggler”. At that time, duvets were a new idea in the U.K and were available through only a handful of retailers. His first duvet was made up in his bedroom at the family home in Edinburgh. He quickly gained a reputation for his duvets and had to employ many friends to help cope with demand.
During the early 1970's he twice received the “Best Buy” recommendation from Which? magazine. Sales rocketed and more spacious premises had to be found, first in York Place and then George Street, Edinburgh. In 1979, we moved again into our current workshop located along Canaan Lane in Morningside.
With duvets becoming increasingly popular and competition growing, we diversified into offering a re-covering and topping-up service where customers could send us their old duvets for a new case and a boost up of more feathers and down. This service and many other products were added to the standard range including pillows, bolsters and cushion pads.
Our shop in Leven Street was opened in 1986 to stock a range of our products including many of the items in the website. Our shop has attracted many loyal customers throughout the years and we continue to offer a friendly and personal service to every customer.
After years of stuffing cushions and duvets during the weekend and school holidays, I took over the business from my father in 1996. And now, our website has just been launched so that customers throughout the U.K can use our products and services.
We look forward to the next forty years of business.
